| Lady Jays down Mexico in soccer
May 1, 2008, News Tribune The Jefferson City Lady Jays earned a 3-0 win over the Mexico Lady Bulldogs at the 179 Soccer Park on Thursday night. The Lady Jays had three starters out due to injuries - Katie Evers, Taylor Looten and Kara Steiner. The Lady Jays got on the board just four minutes into the game on a goal by Kelsey Sanders. They doubled their lead with about four minutes to go in the half on a score by Molly Cowley. The final goal, midway through the second half, was the highlight of the game. Kelsey Coffman found Kelly Strope in front of the net and Strope used her left foot to one-time it out of the air into the net. Mariah McClain got the shutout in goal for the Lady Jays (10-7-1), who will host Waynesville on Friday for Senior Night. The JV game will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity around 6:15 p.m. The Lady Jays won Thursday's JV game 7-0. |
